Preya Coats, LSW, MSW
Preya graduated with her Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work and minor in Psychology in 2018 from Indiana Wesleyan University. She then went on and received her Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Akron in 2021. During Preya’s collegiate career, she served as the Vice President of the Social Work Club and presented at a conference for the NASW.
Preya has worked in the elementary and middle school setting providing therapeutic services to students struggling with a wide variety of mental health diagnosis. Preya has also worked as the director of social services in the nursing home setting providing therapeutic and case management services to older adults and their family members. Additionally, Preya has experience working in the private practice setting with children, teens, and adults who struggle with different mental health diagnosis. Preya is trained and experienced working with individuals who have been diagnosed with Anxiety, Depression, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorder, dealing with Grief, Post Truamatic Stress Disorder, and Suicide prevention.
Preya has used the education and experience she has received over time to work with clients in achieving the goals they have set for themselves. Preya does this by engaging in a collaborative approach; working closely with clients, their families, doctors, teachers, school principles, and her team at The Anxiety Center. Preya also applies evidenced-based research to her therapeutic sessions, providing clients with psycho-education on their specific diagnosis. Preya understands her clients are experts of their lives and she strives to be the expert of their diagnosis by utilizing CBT, strengths-based therapy, and interpersonal therapy. Preya’s aim in her client’s individualized treatment is to assist clients in reaching their therapeutic goals by managing their symptoms well and forming different positive coping mechanisms to increase their quality of life.
