Libbey Ketterer

BA, Gallaudet University // MSW, University of Cincinnati

Libbey is an associate clinician at The Anxiety Center in Cincinnati. Libbey graduated from Gallaudet University in 2019, where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Deaf Studies. Libbey went on to receive a Master’s in Social Work with a concentration in Mental Health from the University of Cincinnati in 2022.

Before joining us at TAC, Libbey spent time working at a School for the Deaf, a residential therapeutic school for children and teens, a refugee resettlement program, and a transgender clinic within a children’s hospital. The experiences she gained in those roles have helped to inform the approach she takes with clients. Libbey is well-versed in practicing trauma-informed care and focuses on being sensitive to cultural issues and marginalized groups. Libbey takes pride in being an LGBTQ+ informed therapist, and practices affirming care.

Libbey's therapeutic approach is grounded in client-centered, strengths-based techniques. She believes in building a strong therapeutic alliance, ensuring that each client feels heard, validated, and empowered throughout their therapeutic journey. Libbey is well-versed in evidence-based treatments such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), exposure and response prevention (ERP), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). She understands that the path to mental wellness is not linear and tailors her approach to meet the unique values, needs, and goals of each client.

My passion

"My interest in mental health developed as an adolescent struggling with a few mental
disorders. After several bad experiences in therapy, I had concluded that therapy was just
useless. Ironically, I became a therapist – teenage me definitely wouldn’t have seen that
one coming. Now, I am passionately dedicated to assisting my clients in making therapy
useful for them. In addition to my professional commitment, I am an advocate for
destigmatizing mental health, a dedicated creator in my small pottery business, and a
fervent believer in cherishing moments with loved ones, including my cat, Lula!"
