TMS - Transcranial Magnetic Simulation

What is TMS?

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is a non-invasive procedure that uses magnetic fields to stimulate nerve cells in the brain to improve symptoms of depression. TMS is typically used when other depression treatments haven't been effective.
How does it work?

How does it work?

During a TMS session, an electromagnetic coil is placed against the scalp near the forehead. The electromagnet used in TMS creates electric currents that stimulate nerve cells in the region of the brain involved in mood control and depression. It is believed to activate regions of the brain that have decreased activity in depression. TMS treatment typically involves multiple sessions over several weeks, where each session lasts about 30 to 60 minutes.

Our Approach

Welcome to The Anxiety Center, where we are dedicated to offering specialized and compassionate care to individuals struggling with primary anxiety, OCD, and related disorders. Our approach is deeply rooted in behavioral therapy, emphasizing the proven methodologies of Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). In our center, patients engage closely with skilled behavior therapists in individual therapy sessions, focusing on creating customized behavior plans. These sessions, typically held five times a week, are complemented by weekly family therapy, acknowledging the significant role of familial support in the treatment process. We also incorporate educational and active treatment groups, alongside intensive ERP sessions led by our trained clinicians, to provide a comprehensive, immersive treatment experience. The Anxiety Center is committed to guiding each patient through their journey of recovery, ensuring a supportive, understanding, and effective treatment environment.

The Difference

The Best Tech in the Region

At The Anxiety Center have access to the best Tech in the region.

01.

BrainsWay

BrainsWay's flagship advanced technology, Deep TMS, is revolutionizing mental health, neurological, physiotherapeutic, and speech therapy treatment. This non-invasive deep brain stimulation device uses magnetic pulses to activate nerve cells in the brain, without pain or seizures, and without the need for anesthesia sedation. The penetrating magnetic fields have the ability to modulate altered neural circuits in various diseases, offering a promising new avenue in the therapy of mental and neurological disorders.

02.

MagVenture

At MagVenture, we have been pioneering non-invasive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) technology for over 30 years with a passion for improving people's lives. Collaborating with thousands of researchers, we have expanded knowledge of the human brain in fields such as psychiatry, neurophysiology, neurology, neuroplasticity, cognitive neuroscience, and rehabilitation. Leveraging our expertise, we've developed clinical TMS systems and recently introduced Magnetic Peripheral Nerve Stimulation (mPNS) solutions. Proudly a privately-owned Danish company, our products undergo design, development, production, and quality testing in Denmark to the highest standards. With subsidiaries in the USA, Brazil, the UK, China, and Germany, and distribution in over 70 countries, our impact is global.

03.

Think Outside the Pillbox

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) offers a compelling alternative to traditional medication-based approaches for various mental health conditions due to several key advantages. Unlike medications, TMS does not involve systemic drug exposure, thus minimizing the risk of side effects such as weight gain, sexual dysfunction, or gastrointestinal disturbances commonly associated with pharmacological treatments. Additionally, TMS is non-invasive and well-tolerated, typically causing minimal discomfort during the procedure and requiring no anesthesia. Importantly, TMS offers targeted stimulation to specific regions of the brain implicated in psychiatric disorders, facilitating personalized treatment approaches and potentially enhancing efficacy compared to broad-acting medications. Furthermore, TMS can be a viable option for individuals who have not responded adequately to medication or who seek alternatives to long-term pharmacotherapy. Overall, TMS represents a promising therapeutic avenue that addresses limitations of medication-based treatments, offering a safer, more precise, and potentially more effective approach for managing mental health conditions.

Accelerated TMS

We prioritize offering the latest and safest interventional psychiatry treatments. An emerging advancement we're exploring is Accelerated TMS, known as Stanford Neuromodulation Therapy (SNT, formerly SAINT), developed at Stanford University. This innovative approach, underpinned by research on brain physiology and neural networks, utilizes targeted Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation. It involves identifying specific brain areas using advanced imaging techniques, followed by intensive, focused treatment sessions. Initial studies show promising results, with a significant percentage of participants achieving depression remission. While these outcomes are encouraging, we we integrate this protocol into our practice on a case-by-case basis, ensuring it aligns with our commitment to providing effective, evidence-based care for our patients.
