About

Dr. Nathan Fite founded The Anxiety Center with the vision of providing youth and adults access to the highest standard of care in the treatment of anxiety and related disorders. Dr. Fite is a practitioner, consultant, and supervisor with expertise in cognitive behavioral therapy for children, adolescents, adults, and their families. He has extensive experience working with diverse patient populations across a wide range of settings, including early childhood diagnostics, community-based mental health, schools, and specialty anxiety treatment centers.

Dr. Fite received his Ph.D. in School Psychology from the University of Cincinnati, where he also earned a Master’s Degree in Education in Applied Behavior Analysis. He has worked at some of the highest-performing schools and community agencies across Chicago and Cincinnati and completed his APA-accredited pre-doctoral internship through the Illinois School Psychology Internship Consortium. In these roles, he developed specialized knowledge of Illinois and Ohio special education regulations, licensure regulations, and IEP procedures.

He went on to complete a post-doctoral fellowship in pediatric anxiety at the Kansas City Center for Anxiety Treatment, followed by an advanced postdoctoral fellowship at the Anxiety Treatment Center of Greater Chicago under the supervision of Dr. Karen Cassiday (Former President of the Anxiety and Depression Association of America). Dr. Fite specializes in the treatment of anxiety disorders, using process-based cognitive behavioral therapy with an emphasis on functional analysis, mindfulness, and graduated exposure.

He has completed specialized training in exposure and response prevention through the University of Pennsylvania's Center for the Treatment and Study of Anxiety and has also been trained by Dr. Eli Lebowitz on the SPACE program through the Yale Child Study Center. His work has been presented at numerous national conventions and published in scientific journals. He maintains a strong research interest in the clinical integration of technology in cognitive behavioral therapy as well as measurement-based care.

During his doctoral training, he taught in the University of Cincinnati’s graduate program in Applied Behavior Analysis and was awarded the Megan Toothman Award in School Psychology for his commitment to public service addressing the needs of underrepresented minority populations. As an emerging leader in anxiety treatment, Dr. Fite received the Alies Muskin Career Development and Leadership Award through the Anxiety and Depression Association of America.

He is an active member of the Anxiety and Depression Association of America (ADAA), the American Psychological Association (APA), Applied Behavior Analysis International (ABAI), the International OCD Foundation, and the Association for Contextual Behavioral Science (ACBS).

My Passion

"I was first diagnosed with severe OCD and depression during my graduate training. It was my own challenges accessing high-quality treatment that drove me to seek specialized training and ultimately informed the patient-centered treatment model used at The Anxiety Center."
