What to Expect in Our Indianapolis Transdiagnostic IOP Program

If you are considering an Intensive Outpatient Program and wondering what the experience is actually like, this guide will walk you through exactly what to expect from The Anxiety Center’s Indianapolis Transdiagnostic IOP.

This program was designed for people navigating anxiety, mood challenges, emotional dysregulation, stress-related concerns, and other overlapping mental health struggles without forcing anyone into a rigid diagnostic box.

Instead, we focus on what truly drives distress and how to build the skills needed for lasting change.

What Makes This IOP Different

One of the most meaningful aspects of our Indianapolis Transdiagnostic IOP is its small group structure.

Participants consistently share that the small size creates a more supportive, personalized environment where they feel truly known and understood.

This allows time to learn skills, process real life experiences, ask meaningful questions, and receive individualized feedback.

Because the group is intentionally kept small, the clinical team can adapt each day’s lessons to what the group genuinely needs most.

Program Schedule and Format

The Indianapolis Transdiagnostic IOP meets Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

Participants may attend in person or virtually through our hybrid model, allowing flexibility while maintaining structure, consistency, and therapeutic connection.

Our Transdiagnostic Treatment Approach

This program draws from multiple evidence based therapies to support a wide range of emotional and psychological experiences.

Rather than treating diagnoses in isolation, we focus on shared underlying patterns such as emotional avoidance, unhelpful thinking styles, difficulty tolerating distress, challenges with self compassion, and relationship struggles.

The goal is to build insight, practical coping skills, and healthier ways of responding to emotional pain across every area of life.

What Each Day Looks Like

Every IOP day follows a consistent three hour structure.

Hour One: DBT Skills

Focused on mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness.

Hour Two: Rotating Skills Focus

This hour rotates between Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Internal Family Systems informed concepts, and self compassion focused interventions.

Hour Three: Flex Time

This portion adapts to the group’s needs and may include processing current stressors, learning and practicing coping strategies, guided mindfulness and grounding exercises, and art and music for emotional regulation.

This structure ensures both skill development and meaningful emotional processing.

The Group Environment

The Indianapolis Transdiagnostic IOP emphasizes a respectful, collaborative, and supportive atmosphere.

This is a space where participation is encouraged but never forced, individual experiences are honored, growth happens at a thoughtful pace, and there is room for both learning and reflection.
